Jim Choukas-Bradley

Jim Choukas-Bradley is the founder of Rhododendron Road and the lead singer. He wrote all of the songs on "Rising Tide". He plays acoustic guitar, keyboards, and harmonica on the CD.  He is a husband, father, and lawyer, in addition to being a musician. He has been happily married to Melanie, an author and naturalist, for 35 years. They have two children, Sophie (a PhD candidate in Clinical Psychology), and Jesse (a college student and member of the band). Jim considers his wife and children the greatest blessings of his life. He is an accomplished lawyer, a partner in an energy firm in Washington, DC, who is considered one of the leading lawyers in his field. He has been writing songs since he was 19. The songs on "Rising Tide" span a selection from many years.

Jesse Choukas-Bradley

Jesse Choukas-Bradley plays lead and rhythm guitar and sings backup vocals on the CD. He is an accomplished lead vocalist and has his own band and sings in a gospel choir. Jesse is now a college student. He writes articles on music and film and has hosted a radio program.

Jesse Daumit

Jesse Daumit is an acoustic and electric guitarist, vocalist, composer, and educator, currently residing in Silver Spring, MD. 

Jesse first picked up the guitar at age 19 while he was attending Montgomery college. A year later he auditioned and became a music major. Two years later, he was performing and teaching music lessons professionally. 

After graduating with an AA degree in classical and jazz guitar, Jesse moved out to Hollywood California and worked as a recording artist in the film and television industry during the day, while performing in the L.A. area jazz and rock club scene during the evening. During this time, he had the opportunity to work with many of the area’s finest musicians including being part of the house band at the legendary Billy Higgins Jazz club.

Missing the east coast music scene and being a bit homesick, Jesse decided to move back to Maryland and pursue his BA in Classical and Jazz guitar performance at Towson University. While attending Towson, he had the opportunity to study and perform with many world class musician’s including: Tim Murphy, Steve Herberman, Walter Namuth(guitarist for the buddy rich band), Gary Thomas, the late vocalist Ruby Glover, and gospel legend Patrick Henderson. 

With his ability to play many styles of music including: Jazz, Rock, Blues, Funk, Gospel, Country, Classical and Bossa Nova/Samba, Jesse has played in almost every major Baltimore and DC venue. Due to the versatility and respect he has gained as a musician, Jesse has performed and recorded extensively throughout the east coast and in over 20 countries worldwide, including  Spain, Egypt, Germany, and Bahrain. 

Having played the instrument more than half his life, he has had the opportunity to share the stage with such notable acts as The Root’s, Patrick Henderson, Ruby Glover, Jeff Reed, Russel Kirk, The P-Funk all stars, Jim Belushi (the blues brothers) and many others.

Jesse has been teaching and performing professionally for 15 years. He currently teaches at the Music and Arts center’s in Rockville, and Germantown MD, as well as leading his own band, performing as a sideman and recording locally and internationally. 

As an educator, Jesse has had many years to perfect his teaching method. Several of his students have received scholarships to prestigious music school’s such as Peabody Conservatory and Berkley School of Music, and gone on to become successful musicians in their own right.

Mike Kuhl

Mike Kuhl is a native of Baltimore, MD, and lives there still. He loves jazz music and plays in several groups in clubs and other venues on a regular basis. He has also toured overseas US military bases on USO-sponsored tours playing rock and roll.

Amanda Olsavsky

Amanda's roots in music run deep and are heavily influenced by her family. At an early age of two, Amanda began singing on stage with her mother's family southern gospel group, and by high school was studying voice, competing in local festivals and national competitions.

Even before graduating from Towson University in Maryland with a double degree in English and Music, she had already performed and recorded with various regional and national musicians - including Lenny Williams, pianist of the late Eva Cassidy. Over the last six years, Amanda has spent hours in the studio as well as onstage, performing with musicians and bands, such as Grammy winner Jon Carroll, an upcoming artist Ben Carroll, nationally recognized House of Echo, the indie jazz band Never in Denver and many others.  Outside of music and the arts, Amanda is the executive administrator for Montrose Christian School.

Jeff Reed

Jeff Reed is an acoustic bassist, composer, and educator, currently residing in Baltimore, MD. As a 2002 graduate of Towson University, studying under Victor Dvoskin and earning a Bachelor of Music degree, Jeff now primarily performs and records as a sideman for various groups in the Baltimore – Washington DC area.

With the acoustic bass as his instrument, Jeff has played in almost every major Baltimore and DC jazz venue. Due to the versatility and respect he has gained as a musician, Jeff has performed extensively throughout the east coast and in over 25 countries worldwide, including Italy, Spain, Egypt, Turkey and Bahrain. In his travels, he has shared the stage with musicians such as Billy Hart, Eddie Henderson, Paquito D’Rivera, John Hicks, Bunky Green, Larry Willis, Ronnie Mathews, Gary Thomas, and George Colligan.

Reed is also an accomplished electric bassist. Having played the instrument more than half his life, he has had the opportunity to perform with such notable acts as Tom Morello (of Rage Against the Machine and Audioslave) and Lester Chambers of the Chambers Brothers.

Jeff currently is the acoustic and electric bass instructor at Towson University located in Baltimore, Maryland
